Think You're Ready For a Chameleon?

Here is a list of questions to help you decide.

Are you able to spend the necessary amount of time daily caring for your chameleon and its food? This includes daily cleaning lots of poop, disgusting insect waste, etc. Chameleon enclosures must be kept spotlessly clean.

Can you afford everything needed for the set-up, regular care, yearly supplies and regular feeding? For feeder insect gutload ingredients?

Are you willing to spend time finding a qualified reptile veterinarian, and prepared to take your chameleon to a vet?

Is there a veterinarian close by who sees chameleons?

Will you be able to pay for both regular and unexpected vet bills?

Will you be able to keep the chameleon throughout the course of its entire life?

Are feeder insects readily available in the area you live, or plan to live?

Do you have a place available in your living space that is safe from disruption, pets, fluctuating temperatures and loud noises?

Is there someone available who you can truly depend upon to "chameleon-sit" when you are gone?

Have you done large amounts of research? Are you prepared to spend time researching chameleon care on a regular basis?

If you think you're ready, congratulations!
