Many people are unaware of not only how much water chameleons require, but also how exactly to provide it. Chameleons will not drink standing water. Unfortunately dehydration is thought to be a leading cause of death in captive kept chameleons. Well hydrated chameleons will display plump bright eyes and smooth skin. Dehydrated chameleons will have sunken eyes, and wrinkly skin.
